To See Differently is an installation made of glass and metal components. The work is permanently placed in Poznań Botanical Gardens, a research and teaching division of Adam Mickiewicz University, considered to be one of the most modern and beautiful gardens of its type in Europe. To See Differently faces west and is situated near a small pond. In a door-size glass sheet instead of a judas hole there is only a casing of a judas hole embedded. The casing in a symbolic way evokes practice, customs, and history of watching, lurking, and peeping. The simplest form of a rectangular piece of transparent glass stands in stark contrast with wooden or metallic doors which usually conceal an entrance to a building. The installation directs attention to the fact that the manner of seeing and therefore perceiving objects depends solely on the beholder. It is personal sensitivity and imagination what constitute the way the world appears.
